Some very dear friends bought me a book for Christmas one year called ‘Photos That Changed the World’ (ISBN 9783791336282) containing photographs that literally did as it said on the cover. There on page 20 was the discovery of Machu Picchu, abandoned by the Incas around 1450 & left undisturbed for over 450 years until its discovery in 1911 – I was totally intrigued. So when the opportunity came to actually walk the trail to it, it was an easy choice for me! The ‘St Luke’s Six’ morphed in to ‘The Men from the Peru’ & we spent 3 amazing weeks in Peru, covering close on 2000 miles by plane, train, automobile… & foot. It was an amazing trip.
